Stick it on the web — A quick guide to building a WebGL build for platforms such as itch.io

If you have never been to the itch.io website you are missing out on a huge number of indie games and game jams.

In this article, I am going to show you how to build your game for WebGL so you can upload it to itch.io. I will not go over actually publishing on itch.io but you can go to their website for more details.

To build for WebGL go to your build settings and change your platform to WebGL. Note that if your colour scheme is not using Gamma colour spacing you will need to go to your player settings and change it.

Once you have done this you can select the switch platform button and Unity will recompile the scripts to be compatible with WebGL.

You can now build the project and this will create some files you can use to upload your project to a webpage.
